Elisandra Scapin

Elisandra Scapin

Elisandra Scapin holds a degree in Chemistry – Teaching (2004), a Master’s in Chemistry (2006), and a Ph.D. in Sciences (2015), all from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). She carried out a doctoral sandwich program at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (2014). She was a Research Productivity Fellow of the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Tocantins (FAPT) from 2022 to 2024. Currently, she is an Associate Professor in the Environmental Engineering program at the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT), located on the Palmas Campus. She serves as a Permanent Professor in the Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences (Ciamb-UFT) and in the Graduate Program in Biodiversity and Biotechnology of the Legal Amazon (Bionorte). She coordinates the Laboratory for Teaching and Research in Natural Products and Biomass (LaPNaBio) and the LabQuim (Palmas Campus). Her research focuses on the bioprospecting of bioactive compounds, optimization of secondary metabolite extraction using sustainable methodologies, biological activity, and the valorization of Amazonian residual biomass for the production of high-value-added biocompounds and bioproducts. She was Deputy Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering program from 2017 to 2019 and has been Substitute Coordinator of the Bionorte Graduate Program since 2022. She has been a member of the internal committee of the Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation Scholarships (PIBIC-CNPq/UFT) since 2017. In 2024, she received the Hilton Japiassú Award for Research Excellence from the Federal University of Tocantins.
