Taicia Pacheco Fill
She is currently an Associate Professor (MS 5.1) at the Institute of Chemistry (IQ) at UNICAMP and leads the Microbial Chemical Biology Laboratory (LaBioQuiMi), with research funded by FAPESP, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and the Serrapilheira Institute (grantee in 2020 and 2023). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (2006), a Master’s (2009), and a Ph.D. (2014) in Organic Chemistry from UFSCar, supervised by Prof. Edson Rodrigues Filho, with a research stay at the University of Cambridge under Prof. Peter Leadlay.
She was a visiting professor at the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology in 2020, where she also completed a postdoctoral fellowship (2016–2017) with Prof. Christian Hertweck. In 2023, she obtained her habilitation at IQ/UNICAMP. She received the L’Oréal-UNESCO-ABC “For Women in Science” Award (2019, Chemical Sciences category) and was elected an affiliate member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (2022–2025).
She has held leadership roles in the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) and the American Chemical Society (ACS) Brazil Chapter and currently coordinates the SBQ Women’s Committee (2024–2026). She is also involved in the Women’s Committee at IQ/UNICAMP and serves on the executive board of the UNICAMP Academic Women’s Network. Her research focuses on Natural Products Chemistry, particularly Chemical Ecology, pathogen-host interactions, antimicrobial discovery, and fungal secondary metabolite biosynthesis. She is also the mother of Bella (3 years old).
