Dr. Miriam holds a degree in Pharmacy with an Emphasis in the Pharmaceutical Industry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1990–1994) and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the same university (2001). She is a CNPq Productivity Research Fellow, Level C.
Currently, she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Raw Material Production at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, working at the School of Pharmacy, where she teaches the courses Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Unit Operations, and Quality Control of Plant Raw Materials.
She is a faculty member of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, working in the research line Prospection, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluation of Molecules of Pharmaceutical Interest. Her research focuses on Phytochemistry, with an emphasis on essential oils and assays related to anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity.
She is also a collaborator of the Brazilian Pharmacopeia, contributing to the development of monographs on herbal drugs.
