Graduated in Pharmacy from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1986), where he also obtained a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1990) and a PhD in Pharmacy from Université Paris 5 – France (1994). He is currently a Full Professor with Exclusive Dedication at the Faculty of Pharmacy, UFRGS, where he has worked since 1997. He has experience in the areas of Pharmacognosy and Natural Products Chemistry, focusing mainly on Chemical and Biological Studies of Amaryllidaceae alkaloids and Polyphenols in the Leguminosae (Fabaceae) family. In addition, he has held several administrative positions at UFRGS. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
